Fu Residence, Rio Rancho, New Mexico, 1999-2002
This site slopes gently from west to east toward the Rio Grande valley in the near distance and the Sandia Mountain range beyond. The client wanted all of the main living spaces on one level but situated such that she was well enough above the adjacent houses so that he view was not blocked. The garages are on grade at the west, street end of the house where she can enter without leaving her car and access the house via a curved stairway. Guests park just outside the garage area and walk along a path which takes them beneath the house to a ramp on the south side which leads to the main living area on the second level. The master suite extends from this central space to the east end of the house while the guest suite is toward the west nearer the garage entrance.
